Undergraduate

To take classes in the School of Art, you need to be admitted to the school after you are accepted to LSU and before you begin taking classes. You may also apply to transfer from another college within LSU or from another college or university.

Once you have been admitted to the School of Art, you begin taking foundation studio courses, the basic courses that all art students take. As you move through the program, you choose one of seven studio areas to concentrate in which will require a portfolio, generally at the end of your second year. Transfer credit is accepted for degree credit if the completed courses are the equivalent of degree work at the LSU School of Art, as determined by portfolio evaluation and the school director. ]
