MOLLIE HILL
Partner O'Neill Hill and Associates
Provide an educational background including professional experience.
Bachelor of Art in Interior Design from LSU. (1989)
Upon graduation, I worked for 2 years as an Interior Designer at Dixon Smith Interiors,
where I was involved in high-end residential projects. After marrying in 1992, I moved
to Houston, where I took the opportunity to move into corporate design.
In Houston, I joined the interiors department of 3D/International, where I worked
for 5 years in corporate interior design. In 1996, I was recruited by Gensler as a senior
interior designer. At Gensler, I learned a tremendous amount about all aspects of the
design business, but found that my true passion was for the project management
side of design.
After building a solid foundation during 7 years with two of the largest firms in the
country, I thought it was time to venture on my own. In 1999, I joined forces with
Jim O’Neill, my former boss at 3D/International, and we formed a new partnership,
now known as O’Neill Hill and Associates. The firm is now 7 years old and is the 10th
largest firm in Houston. In addition to corporate interior design, the company also
provides interior design and project management for major medical projects. The
company has 21 employees with offices in Houston and Dallas.
Why did you choose LSU for your education?
Growing up in Baton Rouge, I always wanted to attend LSU. However, knowing that
LSU’s Interior Design program was FIDER accredited made my decision easy.
How did your LSU degree help to prepare you for your profession?
My degree in Interior Design gave me the foundation for exploring the design
profession. We were encouraged to think beyond the expected and to challenge the
ordinary.
