I have a Bachelor’s degree in interior design. After graduating from LSU in 1975, I moved to New York City where I practiced for 11 years, doing mostly hospitality design. In 1986 I relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area where I head an 11-person design firm with projects in California, Hawaii and various locations throughout the United States.
Why did you choose LSU for your education?
It’s where all my family went.
How did your LSU degree help to prepare you for your profession?
I feel I got a very well-rounded liberal arts education as well as excellent training in architecture, design theory, business principals and practices, and lighting design.
What current or past research and projects/exhibitions have you done?
Having practiced for over 30 years, there’s quite a list. Some of the more interesting projects include: the Intercontinental Hotels in Europe and the Middle East, the New York Plaza Athenee, hospitality work in Hawaii, Seattle, San Jose and Chicago, and hotel/casino design in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Currently I have several very large residential projects on the boards in California, Idaho and Hawaii.
Please list any awards or special recognition that you have received.
2007 Named to Architectural Digest’s list of the top 100 designers in the world.
What are your plans for the future?
We are working on a lighting line and line of bronze accessory furnishings, and I hope to continue doing hospitality and residential interiors.
